Pitsford Water is owned and maintained by Anglian Water who have kindly granted us permission to hold our Welly Walk there.
Parking
There is ample parking but please be aware there is a parking charge of £2.60. This fee is used to maintain and improve the conservation and recreational facilities. Once parked, please go to the registration tent.
Directions
From the A508 south side of Brixworth, follow the signs for Brixworth Country Park.
Start times
Both the 11K and 5k walks will start from 10.30 and you can start any time up until 11.30.
Check in
You will need to check in on the day. Please aim to arrive in time to park and start the walk. To take part you have to register via our website http://rnlinorthampton.org/northamptonwellywalk/. If you know someone who wants to register on the day they can, please ask them to bring the correct money or a cheque.
RNLI Welly Pins
Everyone will receive a Free Yellow Welly Pin. You can collect these on the morning of the event when you register. Please make sure you collect the pin in time to start the walk…and don’t forget to wear them over the finish line to receive your Welly Walk Medal!
Welly Walk attire
The most important clothing you can bring is layers. You need to keep warm before the walk starts, have breathable fabric on during the walk, and be able to stay snug afterwards. If it looks like rain, make sure you also take a waterproof coat to wear before and after the walk . Please wear appropriate footwear – despite the name of the event, you should not walk in wellies! As parts of the route may be uneven or slippery please take care when walking.
Route
Both routes are around beautiful Pitsford Water and Brixworth Country Park, offering you a well-marked, footpath through woodlands and meadows. Distance markers will be displayed around the route. All walkers are to follow the arrows and directions given by marshals.
Medals
All participants will receive a medal on completion of their walk.
Sponsorship
We ask all adults to set themselves a personal sponsorship target of at least £42 to cover the cost of a pair of wellies for a member of our lifeboat crews. This helps the RNLI to continue to save lives from drowning. Part of the registration fee covers the organisation of the event, including promotion, first aid, and the public address system.
It’s a great idea to set up an online sponsorship page by visiting www.justgiving.com
Full instructions on how to create your page are available on this website. You can personalise this page with a photo and message and email it to your friends and family. They can donate quickly and securely online with a credit or debit card or through PayPal. Money raised through JustGiving goes directly to the RNLI. Cheques should be made payable to RNLI.
All sponsorship money collected directly should be sent to RNLI Welly Walk, 4 Church Mount, Guilsborough, Northampton, NN6 8QA and should reach us within four weeks of the Welly Walk.
