Waitrose shoppers in record collection for the lifeboats

Waitrose shoppers in Towcester donated £1,858 during a collection at the store on Friday and Saturday 17th and 18th July.

Jeff Sutherland-Kay, chair of the RNLI’s Northampton branch, said “£1,858 is a record for a 2-day store collection in our branch area and included over £1,000 on Friday alone. Not only were Waitrose shoppers very generous but many also stopped to chat about how much they valued the lifeboat and beach lifeguard service that the RNLI runs.”

Jeff continued “But it wasn’t just the shoppers, Waitrose staff were very warm in their welcome – It was a real pleasure to be at the store. And we are extremely grateful to Waitrose for allowing us to hold a collection there. It means that our branch income this year is already more than £23,000 – 2015 should be a record year.”
